APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM READY FOR NEXT LEVEL (04/10/2009)

At a recent meeting in Casper, ABC of Wyoming’s Electrical Council took a gigantic step towards advancing all trade apprenticeship programs within the association by moving to seek full accreditation of the Electrical Apprenticeship program and select a Master Trainer to administer this and other skilled trades training programs. 

Candidates for the Master Trainer position should be owners, or at a minimum, journeymen level employees that have long term commitments to ABC of Wyoming member companies. 

The Master Trainer will be required to attend a Train the Trainer session with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).  The Master Trainer will also attend an ABC of Wyoming Orientation be responsible for training craft trainers of all trades, and assist in the administration of apprentices in coordination with ABC of Wyoming, the State of Wyoming and the US Department of Labor. 

Initially, following training, orientation and craft trainer classes, the Master Trainer position is expected to consume between 2-4 hours per week. 

This position will initially begin as a volunteer position but will have the potential to become a paid position depending on the success of the Master Trainer and participation in apprenticeship programs.
