Many of our electrical contractors were frustrated in many of the electrical apprenticeship programs that were available to them in Wyoming. They felt the programs were too expensive, or the curriculum was not effective, or feared that in some cases, instructors were cherry picking their apprentices.
These contractors came to the table with us and we established the electrical apprenticeship program.
In our electrical apprenticeship program each contractor is responsible for both the classroom and on-the-job training for their apprentices. That means contractors must have licensed journeymen and/or master electricians available to conduct the training.
Contractors are also responsible for ensuring that their apprentices are registered with the state and are keeping current with their studies. Click here to go to the State of Wyoming Electrical Exam and Licensing page.
ABC of Wyoming helps facilitate training by ordering books, materials, providing tests, evaluations, grading, tracking, maintaining all apprentice records information and keeping it secure in our office. ABC of Wyoming's management of records, information, and materials ensures the integrity of the program. The goal of training is to produce the most competent, highly skilled electrical craftsmen. We currently uses the Contren Learning Series Trainee Guides which were developed by the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER).
