The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wyoming is a non-profit association of commercial, industrial and residential contractors and the businesses that supply materials and services to the industry.
ABC members build hundreds of millions of dollars worth of projects in Wyoming every year. Most of our members are involved in the construction of large scale projects, including retail stores, office buildings, hotels, schools and hospitals. Our members employ hundreds of employees that live and work primarily in Wyoming.
We work with our Congressional delegation, our Legislators as well as our state and local agencies to ensure that the interests and concerns of our members are heard and understood by those making decisions that impact our businesses and our lives.
ABC of Wyoming is heavily involved in Workforce Development; we award annual scholarships, and administer an electrical apprenticeship training program.
Our members may be eligible for comprehensive health insurance to cover employees as well as owners.
We communicate important information vital to our members through our monthly newsletter (Blueprints), our quarterly magazine, (Foundations), and e-mail updates as required to ensure our members are up-to-date and well informed.
ABC offers the Safety Training and Evaluation Process or STEP to help contractors with their safety programs. ABC also offers the Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) program to help contractors become even better at what they do.
Don't see what you need? Just ask us about it, we will find a way to get our members what they need!
ABC of Wyoming's roots were first planted in 2003, when Kloefkorn Ballard Construction, Casper Tin Shop, and a few other Wyoming contractors and construction related businesses with common interests joined together to form the Wyoming Associated Builders (WAB). Their goals were straight forward and stated plainly in the mission statement...
"Wyoming Associated Builders supports the Merit Shop Philosophy with education, legislation, training and image building. We promote integrity and ethics in business practices while offering training opportunities to enhance the success of our members."
The founding members believed that if they could convince their fellow building contractors and others of like minds throughout the state to join forces that together they could become a powerful legislative and regulatory influence.
Soon after the establishment of WAB, our members, fed up with escalating health insurance costs for themselves and employees, once again came together to form the Wyoming Associated Builders Insurance Trust or WABIT in 2004.
In July of 2008, WAB officially became an ABC Chapter in Formation. After achieving the necessary national requirements, we received our ABC Charter, and full chapter status in November of 2008.
From humble beginnings with few members and an office no larger than a bedroom and, after much headache, heartache, and extraordinary dedication from many individuals, ABC of Wyoming has arrived.
